Melissa-Wednesday happenings

So last night the lung guy told Melissa basically she was going to take weeks to get better and that he was going to send her home the next day with large amounts of oral steroids et al and that she'd have to be very regimented in sticking with the treatment plan in order to recover. But he said before they release her, they want to do one more test- I forget the exact name of it, but it tests for pulmonary embolism. They had hoped to schedule it for yesterday but that didn't happen.
Last night at about 11 pm Melissa was in the hallway and happen to see her endocrinologist, Dr. Raice. This is the doctor she's been with since her first brain tumor oh so many years ago. Melissa said seeing her was like seeing an angel.
Dr. Raice scooped up her charts and said, "Oh no, you're not going home. There is WAY too much going on here" and proceeded to order a bunch more tests- blood tests and an MRI in addition to that pulmonary embolism one.
As I'm writing this at Mommy and Paul's house, Melissa is having the tests. She freaks out whenever she's gotta be injected with dyes so they gave her a Valium to calm her nerves. I'll be heading over there to see her as soon as I finish this.
So the good news is that she's being even MORE carefully examined. The bad news is we still don't know when she'll be out and she hasn't stopped wheezing yet. I'll update again when we know more. I hope these postings are helping you guys feel connected, I know some of you are far away!
The rest of us are holding up alright- we are supporting each other and working together to get everything done.

P.S. If you didn't receive a phone call yet, we're cancelling Easter dinner. It's just too much for us to do. Many of you suggested that anyway. It's a lot off Mommy's mind to not have to think about it. Paul will be making more calls later today, but spread the word if you can. Thanks!

More later.
Love,
Jenni
