Good Night

Life is so good. Jeff Buckley and Lilac Wine, red wine, before-the-rain breeze and chill, relaxing 2 mile walk around beautiful r'wood, and you can't see that I just finished a freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookie. Come over.

Him ded. Like his daddy. What a loss, both of 'em. I heard ('communed with' is more like it) Jeff Buckley around?1994-1997?, w/ John Zorn (or maybe just a J Zorn composition, I dont really recall) once at The Knitting Factory, and once somewhere else in the east village, and a couple of times at performance spaces (where they used to do "performance art", as it was called in an earlier incarnation), reading poetry/ - inhabiting it is a better description. One of those was at St Mark's I think. - they still hold marathon readings there, I believe. He was a whole other kind of being.
I learned of his dad shortly after I got to Stony Brook and won a Tim Buckley album from the radio station.. I think he died about a year later. I don't remember what it was called, but it was avant weirdo garde for me then. He had a completely other-worldly vocal range, and summoned attention from the listener in a different way than Jeff's way. You had to kind of work at listening to Tim. Jeff's was more seductive, I think. My Tim album seems to be missing...

I had only ever listened to Hallelujah before and the other day I dove into the rest of the album and it was unreal. Then I started reading about his death and I got so sad. What a phenominal talent. Phenominal. I'll soon be listening to everything he ever sang. I wanna listen to dad's stuff too.
