I'm blown away

I'm totally blown away.
I just received this card and a bag of York Peppermint Patties (my favorite) from a student I haven't taught since I was in Georgia. A lot of times teaching is a pain in the butt. It's frustrating, it's exhausting, it's maddening, it's complicated and all-consuming. And then you get a student like this- one who stays with you through the years.
What an amazing thing it has been to witness her growing into a woman from the 12 year old girl I taught and tried to get to eat stinky cheese in class. That she is growing into such a supporting, strong woman, wow. Just wow.
Totally made me cry. I much prefer the happy tears.
